WALK FROM BRAMHOPE
Keith Wadd was our leader on Saturdays ten-mile walk from Bramhope. On a fine but overcast day the group of twenty-six followed the bridleway from close to the Puritan Chapel to head east by Arthington Quarry. The descent of Arthington Bank beside Crag Wood afforded us fine views of The Wharfedale Viaduct, busy with trains, on the Harrogate-Leeds line. A short stretch of road and a left turn brought us to the delightful path up Broom Bank to Staircase House and the lane of the same name. The ancient track was unusually dry and the group made good progress. We crossed the A658 road and passed through the gracious stone archway inscribed 'Avenue des Hirondelles' on our way to lunch close to the old Pool Bank Quarries. A short stretch of The Old Pool Bank Road brought us to field paths leading to Caley Crags and The Ebor Way route through The Chevin Forest Park. After a pause by the trig-point the group returned to Bramhope following field tracks that form part of The Dalesway Link footpath.
